Wake-On-Lan Project

I've started a new CodePlex project to create a set of tools to make Wake-On-Lan functionality more accessible to more users.  It's really rough at the moment, in fact it really doesn't even work yet, or at least most of it doesn't, but taking the advice "Don't go dark" quite seriously, I've put my ugliness out there for all to see.

The project is called deSleeper, and you can find it at http://desleeper.codeplex.com/Wiki/View.aspx?title=Home.  If you're interested in contributing, send me a note.  If you're looking to for a tool like this, don't try and use it yet.. but any advice is still welcome.

In case you're wondering I'm setting this up under the Apache license, and it's uses .NET 3.5. I selected CodePlex over SourceForge because this being a .Net project, I felt Team Server capability was a better fit than native SubVersion.

Time hasn't allowed quick progress, but there will be updates here when something more usable materializes.

Solar Gadgetry

Solar power is great, but I'm getting a bit tired about hearing about solar gadgetry.  I think the buyers and makers of many of these devices are making the mistake of confusing values.  Solar panels aren't easy to make, and while they'll have a big payback in the long term if you put them on the roof of your house, they're economics (both in dollars and environmental value) are quite different if attached to a device that spends the majority of it's time in your pocket, in your garage, in your closet, or some other lightless hole and gets replaced every 3-7 years (or just gets forgotten about).
